Ah, this brought back some old memories. I too remember back in the day skating that half pipe, skateboarding has changed so much since then. It's all about the stair jumping and gap hopping these days, oh well I still like too keep real.

Cheers

Great article. I too have had my share of fractures and broken teeth. But I wouldnt trade those days for anything. Skateboarding has certainly come a long way since then. Wanna hear a laugh? My first skateboard was a piece of wood with metal roller skates nailed to it. Ancient huh!

Brad,

Yeah, regrettable indeed, and believe it or not more than twenty years later I'm still very reticent about the whole thing. It is a strangely dark place for me, maybe one day I will blog it, but I don't know when, not sure if it is in my foreseeable future. But, as a consolation for the fact that you actually commented here, I think it's high time to write up part two of this post, which I'm glad you dug because it is a personal favorite of mine. I have a really bad nostalgia problem.

Brilliant post, I hadn't seen this before. Haven't watched the videos yet, but this is great stuff! Regrettable lawsuit?! There's gotta be an amazing untold story in there somewhere. I was always the kid who carried a skateboard around & never wanted to take the time to learn how to use it. So my own history with skateboards is regrettable as well. What could have been...
