Mara Scanlon recently attended a Google Docs workshop with DTLT’s own Martha Burtis and came away with a pretty impressive idea. One of the projects the Digital Whitman students at UMW (and elsewhere in the Looking for Whitman project) is a video about where they found Whitman. They are making these videos themselves, and they [...]

Whitman Video Locator
Published by November 18th, 2009 in Looking for Whitman, maps, mashup and video. 6 CommentsThe brick film by James Maduzia titled The Letter (2003) is a masterpiece. And I while I don’t really know much about what I’m sure is a rich, underground history of Lego-inspired films, I have to believe that this one is in the pantheon of greats. It’s so brilliantly shot and the action sequences so [...]
Stopover in a Quiet Town
Published by May 3rd, 2009 in TV, YouTube, audio, television and video. 0 CommentsMy favorite Twilight Zone episode for the last six or seven years is “Stopover in a Quiet Town.” I think the whole idea of two people waking up after a bender in an abandoned town in which they discover everything is artificial—one gigantic prop—is one of the scariest ideas I can imagine. It is also [...]
The fearless Anand Rao just tweeted a link to two Public Service Announcements from 1976 about the Swine Flu (via the Daily Beast). They are pretty awesome, the 70s aesthetic is absolutely one of my favorites of all time. I spent the whole minute and a half waiting for the zombies from Romero’s Dawn of [...]
Yet another episode of the 1967 Spider-man series, this week’s villain is none other than Mysterio. In fact, he has the best quote of the series yet, “Don’t ya know, you can’t keep a good menace down.” Enjoy!
The kids and I have already watched it at least five times. This one is special to me because it features my favorite Spider-man villains: Lizard (albeit a bastardized telling) and Electro. Not to be missed!
Over at WFMU’s Beware of the Blog, Kliph Nesteroff linked to a cartoon he found at Cartoon Brew (a new gem in the reader) titled “In the Nicotine” from 1961 which is about a man who is checked into a kind of rehab for smokers by his wife to kick the habit. I think the [...]
Exclusive US release on the bava: TINS “Spaceland”
Published by March 25th, 2009 in music and video. 1 CommentHere’s a first for the bava, I get to introduce the Western hemisphere to a kickass band from Trento, Italia: TINS (a.k.a Tourists in Sunderland). “What the hell are you doing pushing music you philistine?!” you ask accusingly. “You’re a b-movie junkie, stick to what you know!” Calm down, Hoss, my special lady friend just [...]
The time people will spend watching crap
Published by January 31st, 2009 in YouTube, video and video games. 5 CommentsI was talking to Andy Rush and Jerry Slezak recently about the fact that the over 90 videos I have uploaded to my YouTube account have almost 360,000 views. A figure that is modest by YouTube standards, but still kind of blows my mind. And then Jerry asked the simple question, “How much time do you [...]
Looking for classic Christmas television? Kliph Nesteroff’s Classic Showbiz Television blog may be the best online filters for television on the web. He seems to tirelessly comb social video sites for archival classics that suggest an insane—almost encyclopedic knowledge—of the history of television. And he has been working overtime this holiday season, linking out to [...]
