Great Train Robbery GIF

Here’s an old gold gif, 1903 old, taken from Edwin Porter’s The Great Train Robbery.

It is easy to see how this image inspired a similar shot in Gun Crazy, which you can see as a GIF below.

It would be interesting to compile a series of gun shot GIFs from across the decades of cinema to compare how gun violence (or violence in general) has changed on the big screen. My guess would be not much, thinking of all the old Westerns and silent films in which people are shot seemingly in every other scene. As far as violence and guns go for me, the volleys put out in defense of the British outpost in Zulu would probably take the cake for me. The final stand was especially brutal.

Also, I’m not sure how or why, but this post appeared as a Google Alert for mentioning me. Huh.

Maybe Google alerts knew you needed to see this one 🙂

Interestingly, the first guy shoots dead at the camera and in the second the woman is shooting off to the side. Her eyes seem unsure where she’s aiming.
