Today I got to thinking about something while talking about building a community site: where is my community right now? Well, Twitter, and at this very moment I can see all kinds of cool things happening. I’m currently following two of my favorite people, Shannon Hauser and Brian Lamb, exchange ideas about music. [...]
This can be filed under obscure hacks. For those of you out there who are using the MistyLook theme for MediaWiki and haven’t been able to get the editing toolbar to show up in the later versions of MediaWiki, then this hack is for you.
I found this fix thanks to Hal’s comment on Jason Pearce’s [...]
Ok, so in addition to the Moosecamp session “Wordpress Anonymous” on Friday (depending on interest) and the “Don’t Call it a Blog, call it an Educational Publishing Platform” on Saturday, Lloyd Budd recently facebooked me asking if I would “lead” a small group for issues and questions about using WordPress as a CMS (I’m trying [...]
We have been talking for a while about how easy the installation of WordPress (and many other apps) is made by the one-click magic of script installers like [[Fantastico]]. However, this didn’t solve the problem of uploading themes and plugins to your server (via [[FTP]] or [[CPanel]]) to augment its functionality. That’s why, if you [...]
On Friday I ran into an error that had me perplexed. I reallized, thanks to Patrick, that the options for choosing additional themes throughout the UMW Blogs environment was not available. I checked the Site Admin–>Themes subtab and all of the themes had been made unavailable. Hmmmm? Not sure how this happened. [...]

I’ll post when it is relatively complete in case anyone wants some fresh documentation that they don’t have the time or [...]

Well, out of necessity more than skill I hacked Refueled’s bbPress theme port of Superbold by gorotron. The theme was really nicely done, and the CSS was clean (at least before I got my mitts on it), so I took a stab at re-skinning it a bit to look more like Sadish’s MistyLook [...]

I saw Will Richardson’s post that Budd the Teacher had set up a working version of the Commentpress theme. I commented [...]
I have set up a WordPress Multi-User test of CommentPress, a theme brought to you by the fine folks at The Future of the Book (in particular Bob Stein, Jessie Wilbur, and Eddie Tejada). This theme is absolutely sick (a good thing, mind you) because it allows you to literally publish a book online [...]
Once again, Mario A. Núñez Molina is fueling this blog and I can’t thank him enough. He recently turned me on to the Semiologic theme for WordPress -designed by Denis de Bernardy- which really pushes the possibilities for thinking about a blogging platform beyond the often conceptually limiting logic of the blog. If you [...]
