Well, I have to say that the consumption of tweets in relationship to the Iran Election has seemed one of the most passive and frustrating processes I’ve ever had on the internet. And the illusion of presence and protest seems almost like the the spiritus mundi has been co-opted and sold back to us as tinted avatars. I don;t know, I found my own experience with following this event and the logic around it via Twitter really alienating, while at the same time fascinating. I guess I only hinted to it because I haven;t really thought it through yet, but my post about tripping on twitter is really a strangely outer-body “interaction” with horror that is as exploitative as it is passive in regards to the idea of the moment or immediacy—I feel neither better informed nor equipped to think through this moment, but the technology can so easily lull be into the false sense of having “done something.”

Curious what you mean re: Twitter, Jim, as I’m struggling through this in my own thinking right now as well… finding it at times frustrating to fill the backstory behind tweets from people whom I know only in 140 characters bursts, which is to barely know at all.
