Well, it’s that time of year again. Today bavatuesdays has gotten one year older. I started this blog eight years ago to the day (which, by the way, was also the same day I started at UMW). Without any exaggeration, I can honestly say this blog changed my life. It brought me a career, countless opoortunities, some realy good friends, and a place to be creative. I love it, and the time on this blog has provided me with a platform to realize the simple ideals of sharing my work and having fun doing it. Here’s to many, many more years on the bava, particularly for all the “irreparable harm it’s done me.” In line with this celebration I figured a few GIFs were in order. How about you, you got a GIF(t) for the bava?

“Reverend” Jim “The Bava” Groom, alias “Snake Pliskin” is a charlatan and a fraud, a self-confessed “used car salesman” clawing his way into the glamour of the education technology keynote circuit via the efforts of his oppressed minions at the University of Mary Washington’s DTLT and beyond. The monster behind educational time-sink ds106 and still recovering from his bid for hipster stardom with “Edupunk”, Jim spends his days using his dwindling credibility to sell cheap webhosting to gullible undergraduates and getting banned from YouTube for gross piracy.

That was supposed to be a gif. >.> I’ve gotten rusty.
Erin,
This is the second best birthday present the bava could get. The first is seeing you blogging again, you rule. And ruling on the web is twice as cool 🙂 Thanks!
I don’t have a GIF, but anyway I’ll join the celebration. 🙂 Congratulations to bavatuesdays and thanks for the “irreparable harm” it has done to many of us! 🙂 Your ideas resonate in unexpected places, so here’s to many more years of cool/great documented experiments!
Diego,

After all I’ve done for you no GIF?!!! This means war!
Although I kind of agree with Erin’s GIF above:

More seriosuly, I appreciate the well wishes, I absolutely have an unhealthy relationship with this blog, but I must say it keeps me going. And comments are its life’s blood—conencting with awesome folks like you is what it is all about.

Congrats on your BAVAVERSARY!!! 🙂 I don’t have my own gif to share, but here’s a site I found while helping my daughter with her apartment hunting in San Francisco recently. All the gifs cracked me up and brought back fond memories of DS106. 😀
Hey Linda,
All the #ds106 alums are going back! I have officially followed that Tumblr, and I also be stealing the term bavaversary for future use 🙂 Hope all is going well for you, and I am patiently waiting for “Beyond ds106” 🙂
