Here is an attempt at the minimalistic movie posters assignment for ds106, the best course in the known universe:
I really like how this assignment attempt came out, and the background color is significant, any Hitchcock fans out there have any idea what it is referring to?
Anyway, the coolest think about this poster is that it was inspired by and actually a modified version of a daily shoot I took today chasing lead lines.
Here is the original image:
Thanks to AJ for the inspiration.
I love this. It looks like it could be a t-shirt design.
And I’ve seen The Birds, but it was awhile ago and I don’t remember the significance of the green (or is it hinting to some other Hitchcock film?)
Thanks Megan,
And the green isn’t an allusion to another Hitchcock film, it is squarely based in the Birds. It is an aesthetic I can no longer get out of my head when i think of the film, actually.
I think it might work better — be more ominous and be more faithful to the movie — if there were more birds on that wire, but then you couldn’t exactly call it minmalist.
Mikhail,
I had thought of that, but kinda liked the dissonance of the title and the single bird. But Maybe I’ll play with a version with more birds. Now let me ask you, you know the reference with the green?
Maybe put the bird over to one side or emerge, implying possibly more birds. This bird looks solitary to me because it’s centered on the wire.
Yes, I do recognize the green. Very nice. It’s the color of Melanie’s fashionable outfit.

Listen, stop smacking down on my The Bird poster, I was pretty happy about it a few hours ago, now I gotta go create more art!! 🙂
I own the original poster, one of the first presents Anto got me, but the solitary lonely bird is starting to intrigue me about this poster, have you seen the Jaws and Star Wars from ds106 yet?

More art! Those are awesome. The Star Wars is especially clever. You’ve got me thinking about making one now.
