Another gem from Playskool in line with their work with the McDonald’s set I already mentioned, the rescue center was filled with all kinds of features from the elevator to the heliport/helicopter with a cable and hook, in fact, let me just transcribe the description of this puppy from the Sears Catalog so that you can get an idea of just how cool it was:
Rescue Center. 1st floor Fire Station has a fire truck with hose, 2-pc. rescue ladder/bucket. Hinged door swings open, bell rings, ramp pulls out. 2nd floor Squad Room with Chief’s car—it exits when back wall lowers into ramp. My favorite features were the elevator and the chute, but I also loved the square-headed figures that came with these Playskool sets, they always remind me of one of those Steve Martin Specials that came out in the late 70s or early 80s that featured the crazy block-like housing complex that was occupied by the block-headed family.
