Reclaim Video GIFs

I put together a series of GIFs for a slideshow that was going to play in the background, between sessions, etc. at OER18. I don’t think that ever came to fruition—or at least I didn’t see it—but I kinda like it, so I am going to post it here. It’s kind of an abstract GIF story about Reclaim Video, or something like that … I’m not sure it is all that good or special, but I do enjoy it.

Forget “being good” or not. The fact that you continue to put content like this out in the world is more important; I have enough experience under my belt now to identify people working in education that have long since lost their will to explore, be “weird,” and otherwise put themselves out there for the world to scrutinize. Hell, somedays I feel I’m halfway there myself. Seeing your GIFs of undulating VCR tapes, static, and FBI warnings is as clear an example I need that we should never stop exploring, tinkering, and generally attempting to make sense of our thoughts.

I look at what I’m currently blogging/doing and it feels like shit, so seeing this is a kick in the pants to get creating again.

The question for me is; you’ve gone from vinyl to cassette tapes….is the next evolution the fatty ZIP disks from the 90s?

I love you Ben, you are my only hope 🙂 I think I most miss the dog days of ds106 just to feel like we had some kinda shared mission in this. Regardless, this comment means the world to me, thanks. And I have to admit, I kinda “curated” the GIFs, I’m getting much to lazy to actually make them 🙂
