Mikhail Gershovich forwarded me a great video via del.icio.us, I immediately realized he found the cartoon through Stumble Upon’s relatively new video referral feature (it was released in early December 2006 was discussed on Tech Crunch here). I have been doing some thinking about video on the web recently for some upcoming projects, and this has been a fun tool to play with. Below is the feed of the latest videos I have stumbled upon.

My 3yr old son is VERY intrigued by @jimgroom's avatar. "Is he a superhero?" "Well, yes, son, to many he is."

“Reverend” Jim “The Bava” Groom, alias “Snake Pliskin” is a charlatan and a fraud, a self-confessed “used car salesman” clawing his way into the glamour of the education technology keynote circuit via the efforts of his oppressed minions at the University of Mary Washington’s DTLT and beyond. The monster behind educational time-sink ds106 and still recovering from his bid for hipster stardom with “Edupunk”, Jim spends his days using his dwindling credibility to sell cheap webhosting to gullible undergraduates and getting banned from YouTube for gross piracy.

Hmmm… now if only there was some sort of venue or conference for you to share your impressions of Stumbleupon and online video?
Nothing coming to mind… I think I heard something once about a user-driven web video dance party meets YouTube, with a little WordTube, MediaWiki, rss mash-up or something. I don’t know the ideas are bigger than me, I’m just a patsy.
Thanks, Jim. Much obliged.
Well… You can talk about it IN StumbleUpon… We have groups, you know… Hop on in.
Also, if you have feedback on StumbleVideo, let us know… Thanks 🙂
best,
bradley
Bradley,
Thanks for the comment. Given that you work for StumbleUpon, I was hoping you would consider something. One thing SU might consider rolling out is a more sophisticated RSS feed for their users. Namely, the RSS feed in this post will track all my latest Stumbles marked as favorite, but beyond that I can’t target the feed to produce more granular results. It would be awesome if I could filter my feeds by category or keyword so that I can keep stumbling, while knowing my RSS feeds are reflecting a more variegated and nuanced portrait of my stumblings. Just an idea.
Best,
Jim
Mikhail,
You know I love cac.ophony, but when are you gonna start your own damn blog. Your post on the peregrine falcon was so mint, as are most of your ideas. Stop holding out on me! Thanks for the video and the SU goodness.
