This is a work in progress, but I almost have it where I can mask everything out but the car moving. This animated GIf—even in its ghost-like state—reinforces for me what a master Hitchcock was. This scene from The Birds is like a painting. Gorgeous!

“Reverend” Jim “The Bava” Groom, alias “Snake Pliskin” is a charlatan and a fraud, a self-confessed “used car salesman” clawing his way into the glamour of the education technology keynote circuit via the efforts of his oppressed minions at the University of Mary Washington’s DTLT and beyond. The monster behind educational time-sink ds106 and still recovering from his bid for hipster stardom with “Edupunk”, Jim spends his days using his dwindling credibility to sell cheap webhosting to gullible undergraduates and getting banned from YouTube for gross piracy.

Yeah, that’s the idea I was hoping for. It’s like something moving through a still image. Hypnotic!
I notice the care leaves a ghost artifact as it moves from left to right. This is cool, like a vapor trail. Is it also possible to not have the ghost effect (suppose it has to do with the number of frames per second when you do the original grab from the video)?
And since your in GIMP or photoshop, you can probably add / mash in other elements such as a fire breathing Bea Arthur or something.
Otto,
I have been trying to get rid of the trace with masking, but still not able to get Gimp to mask clean enough, at least that is my theory. My ideal is to have everything Tableaux except for the moving car. And then I am gonna blow it up and but it on the all of my living room in an LCD frame cause it will be art. I am alos gonna try and slow down the movement of the car and how soon it shows back up. I have a tutorial for masking coming out soon. It is pretty easy (if awkward at first) in GIMP, and it gives you all kinds of ways to make your gif smaller. I think this one is only 700K, and it is 35 images, which is remarkable.
Bea Arthur flames are on the way!

This is beautiful. I’m impressed. I like the trail behind the car. Please don’t add any more it’s perfect like this.
