EdTech Survivalist: Episode 2

“Embedded!”

In this episode the EdTech Survivalist tries to help a war buddy unembed himself from the web. But first he has to help him navigate a long, abusive history of being at the mercy of centralized IT, a reality that might just push Johnny Embed over the embedding edge.

Credits:
Tom Woodward, my confirmed partner in crime, brilliantly portrays Johnny Embed, and is responsible for all his own effects and camera work.

Serena Epstein is the technical/artistic wizard who has consistently aided and embedded me with the camera work and editing, any and all mistakes in this department are squarely hers šŸ™‚

  1. Alan Levine says:

    Wow, you MUST rescue Johnny!

If not, at least throw him a link and maybe he can pull himself out through some ssh tunneling. Extraction might be easier if he is in an iframe rather than a nested object tag. I know someone who can do the work, but he is unpredictable and prone to fits of obtuse object oriented JavaScript.

  2. Barbara says:

I love you, Soldier. Great work.

  3. Tom says:

Serena is impressive. She definitely has the eye for framing things.

I demand my own extremely talented camera operator. And I also need someone to help me with acting, special effects and probably a few other things.

    I’ll be in my trailer.

    Tom

  4. Reverend says:

    Tom,

Trailer? You got it? Caermawoman? You got it! Whatever you want you got, you have that special something kid! You’re gonna go far on the internets, believe you me! It’s primadonnas like you that make this place so damn lovable šŸ˜‰ Once again, you rule!

  5. Wonderful.. Beautiful. “They’re all dead, sir” — on of the great cheesy lines in film history.

Now when you do the sequel to this I’ll expect Johnny to have beefed up considerably, but deny steroid use. Oh, and have some sort of claw-like scar, because the velociraptors got very bad in Nam.

Oh and if you take requests, my wife would love to see Red Dawn, which severely brainwashed her as a kid. Perhaps everybody could be rounded up into LMS reeducation camps…

  6. Reverend says:

Red Dawn as LMS re-education camp, if my memory serves me right that means Tom or I get to play the great Harry Dean Stanton, without a doubt this one will get made—brilliant, Mike!

  9. Tom says:

Did you recover this one? I can’t find a copy.

  10. Reverend says:

I’m pissed, I haven;t found a copy of this yet. But I have not given up hope. I have a few external storage drives I am working through this summer, and I am hopeful it will be there. I will let you know.

  11. Tom says:

I am prying through your redbaiters and found this. Not the end goal but there might be something in here someplace.

    • Reverend says:

Yeah, those are the videos we did for Jared Stein;s awesome Talk Show at that confernece in Fort Worth, Texas. I have all that stuff, and I love it. Especially that red thing you were wearing on your head.
