My blogging screeched to a halt while I was in Vancouver, British Columbia having a blast with edtech friends near and far, and my broke ass even imposed on the unbelievably gracious and warm Casa Lamb/McPhee. Woth pointing out is that Canada has—at least the last three times I’ve been there—seemed like a psychedelic dream vision where the quasi-fascist state in the US seems eerily absent and the people are ready to have some clean, good fun. Don’t ask me why, but it kind of reminds me of the following scene from David Lynch’s Fire Walk with Me, when Laura Palmer descends into the seedy underworld of sex, drugs, and Canadians. So, in honor of my recent travels, here is the Pink Room scene from Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me.
Bava Warning: The following clip contains drugs and nudity, but no sex—sorry for that omission.

So serious omission here- I’ve never seen Twin Peaks. Must’ve happened during my long tv black-out years (not from any sense of conviction, just hanging out on the island with only cbc for company.) Maybe this is the next tv series and I’ll dream the dream of Canada a la Lynch. Actually kind of reminds me of my Ontario teenage view of Quebec.
It was a total delight having you here. Come back soon, bring the family.
I’m glad you have a sense of humor
And I have to admit I am one of the few who liked the Fire Walk with Me Film more than the series, though I highly recommend the series, it has some unbelievable moments. In fact, the Lynchean dream of Canada is one that seems of utter respect and regard given his sensibilities. And I can’t argue on that count, I’ve had nothing but a blast in the Northern part of our continent, and I think I owe that in large part to ambassadors such as yourself, B, and H. You all rule, and my family and I are currently dreaming of having a few days at the track with the Lamb/McPhee crew.
I liked Fire Walk With Me too, but it opened as many questions as it answered. I saw it the day before it opened nationally and there was a talk by the co-author after the screening. It was totally transcendent for a Twin Peaks aficionado like me!
