Generations from now, they won't call it the Internet anymore. They'll just say, "I logged on to the Jim Groom this morning.
-Joe McMahon
Everything Jim Groom touches is gold. He's like King Midas, but with the Internet.
-Serena Epstein
My understanding is that an essential requirement of the internet is to do whatever Jim Groom asks of you while you're online.
-James D. Calder
@jimgroom is the Billy Martin of edtech.
-Luke Waltzer
My 3yr old son is VERY intrigued by @jimgroom's avatar. "Is he a superhero?" "Well, yes, son, to many he is."
-Clint Lalonde
Jim Groom is a fiery man.
-Antonella Dalla Torre
“Reverend” Jim “The Bava” Groom, alias “Snake Pliskin” is a charlatan and a fraud, a self-confessed “used car salesman” clawing his way into the glamour of the education technology keynote circuit via the efforts of his oppressed minions at the University of Mary Washington’s DTLT and beyond. The monster behind educational time-sink ds106 and still recovering from his bid for hipster stardom with “Edupunk”, Jim spends his days using his dwindling credibility to sell cheap webhosting to gullible undergraduates and getting banned from YouTube for gross piracy.
I am Jim Groom

Reclaim Remix ‘n’ Match: a Visual Thinkery Production
I do love myself some Visual Thinkery creativeness, and I’m not gonna lie, when it invokes Reclaim Hosting I am a complete sucker 🙂 Bryan Mather’s latest twist metaphor for the Remix Machine is the Flip Book, and it is … Continue reading
Look Mom, No Support!
You may have to click on the above image for the full effect, but I just wanted to take a moment to recognize that I’m officially off the 8 AM to 10 PM (Eastern US Time) support schedule. I still … Continue reading
Happy 6th Reclaim
Lauren reminded us this morning that today is officially the day Reclaim got started back in 2013. And with some quick math that makes us 6 years old. That is pretty damn exciting, as my new favorite GIF on the … Continue reading
The Year Reclaim Hosting Grew Up
We just passed the half-way mark for 2019 and Reclaim has already accomplished most of the big items on its to-do list—which feels good. Our primary focus this year was pretty clear from the outset, hire more support staff to … Continue reading
Reclaiming Wake Forest
I’ve been traveling pretty consistently to colleges, universities, and conferences talking WordPress, WordPress Multiuser (than multisite), ds106, and Domains of One’s Own for around 13 or 14 years now. When I visited Wake Forest University soon after Domains19 last month … Continue reading
The Art of Domains19
Day 2 of #domains19 and @ryanseslow’s work still remains an inspiring, challenging, creative force in Gallery 3. pic.twitter.com/f3nXrH8fHs — DOMAINS (@DomainsConf) June 11, 2019 There was a lot to love about Domains19, and I’m just starting to get my head … Continue reading
Support the Remixer and the Arts
It’s no exaggeration to say that @BryanMMathers changed my aesthetic life indelibly when he began visually animating @reclaimhosting’s soul. We love this guy! And he is an amazingly generous collaborator. https://t.co/eo14nVNNiN — Jim Groom (@jimgroom) May 24, 2019 It’s been … Continue reading
WordPress Multisite: Multi-Network versus Multiple Independent Networks
One of the things we find ourselves doing more and more of at Reclaim Hosting is managed hosting, in particular for WordPress Multisite (WPMS). In the end was the beginning for this blog. So, I was on a call last … Continue reading
Pi Video Looper at OER19
Another thing worth mentioning about Reclaim’s sojourn to OER19 was our trial run of the Pi Video Looper setup that we’ll be rolling out for Ryan Seslow‘s artwork at Domains19. Luckily Meredith got a primer from Tim before making the … Continue reading
