6 shots or 6 frames? Shots would be interesting — you could pull single takes and put them together in a short video — I wonder how that would work esp. re: the editing in Hitchcock’s films.
Yeah, think we will do that for the video part of the class, I really like that idea. But or now you are right, it is just 6 frames 🙂

Love the idea of telling the story of a film in a series of still shots. Will try this with a class this year. Thanks. Really gets to the core of narrative.
Yeah,
This is a lot of fun as an assignment, and I took it from an idea Tom Woodward had last semester to have students create their own film posters. What I like about this assignment is how into it students were. And actually I would consider doing the Flickr visual story telling prompt in class before assigning this one. They did image stories during class in groups of 3, and that was a ball. I modeled it on flickr’s Tell a story in 5 frames. And here are our results;

And then the daily shoot assignments I picked up from Cogdog (I also picked up the Tell a story in 5 frames from him because he is the internet) have absolutely ruled:
