Testimonials:
Generations from now, they won't call it the Internet anymore. They'll just say, "I logged on to the Jim Groom this morning.
-Joe McMahon
Everything Jim Groom touches is gold. He's like King Midas, but with the Internet.
-Serena Epstein
My understanding is that an essential requirement of the internet is to do whatever Jim Groom asks of you while you're online.
-James D. Calder
@jimgroom is the Billy Martin of edtech.
-Luke Waltzer
My 3yr old son is VERY intrigued by @jimgroom's avatar. "Is he a superhero?" "Well, yes, son, to many he is."
-Clint Lalonde
Jim Groom is a fiery man.
-Antonella Dalla Torre
“Reverend” Jim “The Bava” Groom, alias “Snake Pliskin” is a charlatan and a fraud, a self-confessed “used car salesman” clawing his way into the glamour of the education technology keynote circuit via the efforts of his oppressed minions at the University of Mary Washington’s DTLT and beyond. The monster behind educational time-sink ds106 and still recovering from his bid for hipster stardom with “Edupunk”, Jim spends his days using his dwindling credibility to sell cheap webhosting to gullible undergraduates and getting banned from YouTube for gross piracy.
I am Jim Groom

Dog Man
All the Cat Breading and Dog Swapping shenanigans that has been going on around ds106 as of late reminded me of that crazy scene in the 1978 version of Invasion of the Body Snatchers when the dog man comes running … Continue reading

ds106 come out and play!
It was only a matter of time before I did an animated GIF assignment from the 1979 classic The Warriors, a film that seems to be an integral part of the ds106 fabric. This one was actually pretty easy to … Continue reading

This Week in ds106: Alan Levine on Photography (4.1)
In Tuesday’s face-to-face class at UMW I had the good fortune of Alan Levine presenting to my students in the flesh. I have to take a moment here to recognize how much better ds106 has gotten since I started constantly … Continue reading
Three Amigos
Create a photograph that represents the happiest or most memorable moment in your life. This is a photo I took back in May of 2011. I chose it for today’s Daily Create because it represents the fundamental shift my life … Continue reading
The Fat Fog Warning (1885)
As soon as I saw Annie’s visual assignment for ds106 postulating that “Fat Cats make Better Art” I wanted to do it. And when Nick Antonini actually did his own version, I knew I had to do it now. So … Continue reading
Colorized Snakeboy
I revisited an earlier image I had taken of Miles to experiment with Alan Levine’s “Splash the Color” visual assignment. I always wanted to learn how to experiment with color masking in Photoshop (I used PS for this one, not … Continue reading

Bagman for President
I’m pretty swallowed up by ds106 right now, I have been pulling in what seems like an endless stream of feeds. My hosting account is about to fall over cause I am pushing it so hard, and ds106 is off … Continue reading
