Generations from now, they won't call it the Internet anymore. They'll just say, "I logged on to the Jim Groom this morning.
-Joe McMahon
Everything Jim Groom touches is gold. He's like King Midas, but with the Internet.
-Serena Epstein
My understanding is that an essential requirement of the internet is to do whatever Jim Groom asks of you while you're online.
-James D. Calder
@jimgroom is the Billy Martin of edtech.
-Luke Waltzer
My 3yr old son is VERY intrigued by @jimgroom's avatar. "Is he a superhero?" "Well, yes, son, to many he is."
-Clint Lalonde
Jim Groom is a fiery man.
-Antonella Dalla Torre
“Reverend” Jim “The Bava” Groom, alias “Snake Pliskin” is a charlatan and a fraud, a self-confessed “used car salesman” clawing his way into the glamour of the education technology keynote circuit via the efforts of his oppressed minions at the University of Mary Washington’s DTLT and beyond. The monster behind educational time-sink ds106 and still recovering from his bid for hipster stardom with “Edupunk”, Jim spends his days using his dwindling credibility to sell cheap webhosting to gullible undergraduates and getting banned from YouTube for gross piracy.
I am Jim Groom

Spider-man 1967, Episode 10
“The Revenge of Dr. Magneto”: A disgruntled scientist uses magnetism to destroy parts of the city in order to gain recognition and fame. Spider-Man must race to prevent each catastrophe before the city is destroyed. “The Sinister Prime Minister”: The … Continue reading
Spider-man 1967, Epsiode 9
This week’s Spider-man features two episodes with two all-new villains: “The One-Eyed Idol” Someone has sent a one-eyed idol to Jonah Jameson. Jameson is hypnotised by the idol to steal his own cash. Spiderman finds the assailant the following night … Continue reading
Spider-man 1967, Episode 8
Finally, a little Rhinoceros action in the 8th installment from Marvel.com “Horn of the Rhino,” a tradition that continues to bring joy to my home.
Spider-man 1967, Episode 7
And yet another weekly treat.
Spider-man 1967, Episode 6
Here’s the sixth installation of Marvel’s weekly releases of the 1967 Spider-man. It’s remarkable that it took six weeks to get to the Green Goblin, you would think he would be top billing. But I’m not complaining for he was … Continue reading
Spider-man 1967, Epsiode 5
Also, the latest Episode of the 1967 Spider-man arrived yesterday, featuring the Scorpion and Sandman—classic villains that any kid would love. I’m particularly impressed with Sandman’s phlegmatic evil and very cool super-villain abilities.
Spider-man 1967, Episode 4
Yet another Spider-man, and this episode is a 2-for-1 with two shorter episodes featuring the Vulture and Spencer Smythe. The real joy of these episodes are the villians, in fact it is through their names that my son remembers each … Continue reading
Spider-man on the end of the web
I’m truly enjoying the 1967 Spider-man series, and it struck me this evening that no other superhero is a better metaphor for the internet than Spider-man given his dependence on the web for power—although one could make a compelling case … Continue reading
Spider-man 1967, Epsiode 3
Yet another episode of the 1967 Spider-man series, this week’s villain is none other than Mysterio. In fact, he has the best quote of the series yet, “Don’t ya know, you can’t keep a good menace down.” Enjoy!
Spider-man 1967 Episode 2
The kids and I have already watched it at least five times. This one is special to me because it features my favorite Spider-man villains: Lizard (albeit a bastardized telling) and Electro. Not to be missed!
